English Course (Day4)

We have been learning English for a while.Till the last session we saw about simple tenses. In our next 3 sessions we are going to learn about continuous tenses.

We can use these tenses to express the continuous actions.

So I have dedicated this lesson to Present continuous tense.

As per our way of learning we have classified it as 3 categories. So here we go

1.Positive Sentence
2.Negative Sentence
3.Question Sentence

1.Positive Sentences

    Syntax
    Subject+auxiliary verb+main verb+ing

i)I+am+verb+ing
ii)we/you/they+are+verb+ing
iii)he/she/it+is+verb+ing

(e.g)

I am watching TV.

We are going to school.

He is writing the letter.

2.) Negative sentences

With the above sentence we have to add the word "not" to make negative sentences.

i)I+am+not+verb+ing
ii)we/you/they+are+not+verb+ing
iii)he/she/it+is+not+verb+ing

(e.g)

I am not watching TV.

We aren't going to school.

He isn't writing the letter.

3.) Question sentences

     i)Yes/No questions

        Syntax
           auxiliary verb+ Subject+main verb+ing?

            (e.g)

              AM I  watching TV?

              Are We  going to school?

              Is He  writing the letter?

      ii) Information questions

With the above sentence pattern we                    have to add the question words .

           (e.g)

               What are you doing?

               Why is he coming?

              How am I going?
