English Course (Day 2)

In our last session we had learnt about "simple Present tense".I hope that will have helped you.So here we are going to start  our 2nd session "simple past tense".
As we had planned we have to segregate it into 2 parts. Then only we can able to learn this concept clearly. So here we go
1.Answer sentence
2.Question sentence

1.Answer Sentence
We can further classify this as 2 parts.
i)Positive sentence
ii)Negative sentence

          i).Positive Sentence
In positive sentence we can directly use the past form of the verb.We don't need to get                         confused as like simple Present. So we need to know the past form of verbs are essential.
            (e.g)
             I worked
             They studied
             He ran
             Note:
Here we don't need to get confused whether the pronoun represents singular or plural as                       like  simple Present tense.Past form of the verb is suffix.

    ii).Negative Sentence
For make negative sentence in simple past we need to use "did not" .I will explain it.Just add               this word after the subject or before the verb.
           (e.g)
            I didn't work
            They didn't come
            Note:
Please don't use the past form of verb while using negative sentences in simple past.

2.Question sentence
I hope we don't need to explain the sub categories of question sentence.Because we have already seen about it in our last session.

         i).Yes/No questions
To make this type of questions in simple past we have a keyword "did".Just add it in front                  of  the sentence as like below.

We can further classify this as 2 types.
               a)Positive questions
              b)Negative questions

          a)Positive questions

             *Did +I/WE/YOU/THEY/HE/SHE/IT +verb?
              (e.g)
                 Did you work yesterday?
                 Did he call you?
                 Note:
Verb must be in Present form.

         b)Negative questions
Just add the word "not" to make Negative questions.
                 *Did +not+I/WE/YOU/THEY/HE/SHE/IT +verb?
                 (e.g)
                     Did not you work yesterday?
                     Did not he call you?
                  Note:
Verb must be in Present form.

    ii) Information questions

This kind of questions are classified into 2 types as like below,

            a)Known Subject
We know who has done the action.
                     (e.g)
                        Why did he work?
                       How did they come?
                       Note:
Verb must be in Present form
            b) Unknown subject
We don't know who did the action.
                (e.g)
                     Who worked?
                   What Happened?
I hope we have successfully completed our second day of this course.
